BACK IN BUSINESS

October 8, 2012... I'm baaaaaaackkkk!

After a long silence which started last second week of August, I decided to post again.  Well, what was the real reason I left the blogging universe?

A lot of things, and we start with family issues.  My son suffered a case of intussusception which I will be discussing on my forthcoming entries.  I stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks before making my own decision to stay in Cebu with family, at least for now.

I now got a job in an office somewhere along the premiere BPO site in I.T. Park.  Along with some document-submitting where I had to request some of it to be shipped from Iloilo, I was able to pass the pre-employment requirements and got ready for training.

I can't disclose much about the company however I could only say it's much better than the previous company that I worked with.

So, in the next 3 days, a lot of topics are lined up for your reading pleasure.  Have a nice day everyone!

WHEN IT RAINS AND SHINES

Just before the flood submerged Metro Manila yesterday despite of not having a typhoon entering Philippine Area of Responsibility, a sea of blue flooded the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.

Rain or Shine, the PBA's perennial league doormats prior to having a breakout season this year, nabbed its first PBA title, a Governor's Cup championship over the powerhouse B-Meg Llamados.

What made the championship sweeter is the fact that it's vaunted rookie Paul Lee was unable to play Games 3-7 of the championship series due to a shoulder injury.

The injury of a star player can cause a team to sink or float depending on the situation.  But with Yeng Guiao at the helm as the team's head coach, he decided to set the team afloat.  Moreso, Lee's injury was supposedly a boost to the Llamados, who have a healthy line-up composed of James Yap, PJ Simon, Marc Pingris and import Marquis Blakely playing.

This was actually the second time B-Meg/Purefoods played against a team with injured key players in a finals series and lost in the process.  The first time was when Triggerman Allan Caidic got injured in 1990 while playing for Presto in the All Filipino Finals, which the Ice Cream Masters won.

The moral of the story:  Never underestimate the heart of an underdog especially if it's Rain or Shine.

EAT BULAGA FRANCHISED AFTER 33 YEARS

When "Eat Bulaga" premiered 33 years ago on July 30, 1979, those who grew up watching the show started chanting "Mula Aparri hanggang Jolo" that eventually evolved into "Mula Batanes hanggang Jolo".

Now for those born later (since 2000 until now), they will be chanting "Mula Pilipinas hanggang Indonesia".

The country's longest running noontime show has started to export their trademark fun and excitement to the world's largest archipelago and the world's largest Muslim nation.  In fact, the Indonesian version of "Eat Bulaga", entitled "Eat Bulaga Indonesia", already started airing last July 16, 2012 over SCTV (Surya Citra Televisi), the number 1 network in Indonesia.

It is interesting to note that it was an SCTV executive Harsiwi Achmad who made an effort to bring "Eat Bulaga" to Indonesia after seeing some episodes on Youtube.  And thanks to a Filipino mediator Gerry de Guzman, who works as Marketing Creative for SCTV, all efforts to import "Eat Bulaga"'s format and bring it to Indonesia was made possible.

So after two weeks, how did "Eat Bulaga Indonesia" fare in the ratings?

The good news is, the Indonesian version did very well in its timeslot.  The show airs at 3:30 pm, Philippine time.  And best of all, it's the number 1 show in the 2-4 pm timeslot besting other shows aired by other Indonesian networks.

It's also interesting to note that "Eat Bulaga"'s rich history on Philippine television has gotten more interesting with the franchise to Indonesia. It makes them the first Philippine TV show to be franchised internationally by other countries.

So brace yourselves because sooner or later, other TV shows will follow what "Eat Bulaga" just started.  To "Eat Bulaga", happy anniversary and to "Eat Bulaga Indonesia", keep up the good work!

Terimakasi.

DENNIS TRILLO REMAINS A KAPUSO

For those who are wondering if Dennis Trillo will leave GMA Network for ABS-CBN, the reports are false.

The 32-year old actor just inked a contract with the Kapuso Network for three years last February 18, 2011.  (Source: Dennis Trillo Remains a Kapuso; Signs Contract with GMA-7 Anew)

The said aforementioned deal was reportedly worth P45 million, making him one of the highest paid talents of the network (Source: BAGONG KONTRATA NI DENNIS TRILLO SA GMA-7 P45 MILLION ANG HALAGA!!!)

The rumors about Trillo's supposed transfer floated after he showed up during the premiere night of Star Cinema's "The Healing", which starred Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos and directed by Chito Rono.

Trillo's presence at the premiere night was due to the fact that he and actress Janice de Belen share the same manager in Popoy Caritativo, who also manages the careers of GMA's primetime star Marian Rivera and TV5's Mart Escudero.  Janice is one of the cast members of the said movie and also a contract star of ABS-CBN where she is one of the hosts the Saturday talk show "Showbiz Inside Report".  She is set to star soon in the upcoming Kapamilya teleserye "Ina, Kapatid, Anak".

Dennis originally started out in showbiz in 2002 when he was launched by ABS-CBN as one of the members of Star Circle Batch 9.  His contemporaries included Alfred Vargas and Bea Alonzo.  He appeared in soaps like "Pangako Sa 'Yo" and "Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan" until he named Popoy Caritativo as his new talent manager in 2003 and subsequently transferred to GMA-7 the same year.  His first shows on GMA were the Sunday teen drama "Kahit Kailan" and the primetime soap "Twin Hearts".  He was launched alongside Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez in the telefantasya "Mulawin" in 2004 that brought high ratings for the network.

His role the transvestite spy Inya in the period drama "Aishite Masu" won him awards and acclaim from various award-giving bodies.  His latest movie appearance was in Cinemalaya's "Ang Katiwala".

Aside from being an award-winning actor, Dennis is also listed as one of the stockholders in the publicly-listed GMA Network (Source: List of Top 100 Stockholders As of 06/30/2012)

CHEATING: THE PRICE OF FAME

To quote a Korean song entitled "Please"...

"'Cause you're the cheater, a liar and a killer"

These words best describe "Twilight" star Kirsten Stewart when she admitted to have cheated on co-star and boyfriend Robert Pattinson by having a brief affair with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders.  Sanders himself is also attached- married to model Liberty Ross with whom he has two children.

Pattinson was reportedly "heartbroken and humiliated" upon Stewart's admission to the affair, to which pictures of the actress and Sanders kissing went viral online.

Stewart issued a statement: "I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."

Meanwhile Sanders has also issued an apology to his wife and kids: "I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying we can get through this together."

Cheating in Hollywood may seem to be a norm since its Golden Age.  But for new generations of fans especially "Twilight" diehards, this is a bitter pill hard to swallow.  Especially now that the "Twilight" saga will end soon with the release of the last movie "Breaking Dawn 2".  It's also a risk for Kirsten as well after being name one of the highest-paid Hollywood actresses this year.  But as the adage goes, "good or bad publicity is still publicity", there might be an instance that Kirsten may have Lady Luck still smiling at her career-wise.  But what about lovelife?

Well we might say our last goodbyes anytime to the on-screen and off-screen romance of Kirsten Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
