HEY DAN, LEBRON GOT ONE RING!

Dear Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert:

It's been a great NBA season for the Miami Heat.  They have finally won the NBA Championship at the expense of the Oklahoma City Thunder.  It's the second NBA title for the Heat.  But guess what?

LEBRON GOT HIS FIRST NBA CHAMPIONSHIP AHEAD OF YOU!

What about your promise to the Cavs fans that your team will win a championship team ahead of LeBron?  Your open letter to the fans in Comic Sans font was the most ridiculous.  Don't get me wrong though, I personally wanted LeBron to stay in Cleveland prior to his decision to transfer to Miami but the way you approached his decision is not pleasing.  You acted like a kid by posting that letter in your team website.

I was expecting you to build a Cavs team by either getting the next available talent in the free agent pool or through the draft.  You decided to go through the draft when the number 1 pick back in 2011 landed on your lap.  You drafted Kyrie Irving but instead of surrounding him with skilled veterans to guide him, you decided to tank.

Tanking... yeah.. tanking is a trending sin in the NBA where the lowest ranked teams like your team decide to deliberately lose games in order to get better chances at the draft lottery.  Now, with the number 4 pick in the 2012 Draft a week from now, do you think your drafted rookie will get to help your Rookie of the Year?  Hell no.

Why don't you trade him immediately to a team with great veterans who are willing to play for a chance at a title?  Do you think by constantly thinking about winning a championship ahead of LeBron did you good?  Now that he got his ring, with a Heat dynasty looming anytime with a possible back to back championship next year, will you continue to write to your fans that you will win a championship before he gets his second?

Dan, this I tell you... you fell flat on your predictions.  The King has won his NBA ring.  He now belongs to a great organization which is Miami...

You have to make a move in your organization.  Do what the Celtics did in 2008 by trading away their draft picks for hungry veterans...

And make these veterans hungrier and motivated by a coach which knows basketball... and a front office management that eats and breathes basketball...

And don't rely on your so-called curse.  Make a positive atmosphere at your town by creating a team that fights night in and night out rather than tanking.

Get away from the past... move on to the future...

And you might get a ring before you know it....

A doughnut ring.
