POSSIBLE PINOY MOVIES WE'D LIKE TO SEE

If Filipino movies would be more daring in terms of storytelling and visuals, then we would have a healthy industry.  Audience nowadays are more open to stories that they can relate to, think about, and share with.  Given that we still look for romantic flicks, but once in a while we would like to see these themes to be made into a movie.  So far, I have 3 movies in mind:

PINOY REMAKE OF 19 (NINETEEN)


SYNOPSIS:  The original Korean movie talks about three teenagers aged 19 who were framed for the murder of the girl.  While being investigated for the murder, the teenagers suddenly escape to find out the real killer to prove their innocence.


POSSIBILITIES OF THE MOVIE BEING MADE:  The story is quite intriguing. It has the elements of drama, action, comedy and a coming of age story about how it is being a 19 year old.  The settings though can be changed to adapt to a Filipino setting.  


EAT BULAGA (UNANG TATLONG TAON)


SYNOPSIS:  As the then-fledgling noontime show "Eat Bulaga" makes Philippine TV history by going on nationwide domestic satellite (DOMSAT) broadcast in 1982, a flashback of events happen prior to the show's historic event.  From Tito, Vic and Joey's days in "Discorama", to hosting the regional pageants of Binibining Pilipinas where they were discovered by their eventual producers, Tony Tuviera and Romy Jalosjos, until the show was born in 1979 with birth pains abound.  The DOMSAT broadcast of "Eat Bulaga" signals the start of ruling the noontime airwaves.

POSSIBILITIES OF THE MOVIE BEING MADE:  The period movie, with timelines from 1976 (the time Tito, Vic and Joey were launched via "Discorama"), 1979 to 1982 (the first 3 years of "Eat Bulaga" pre-DOMSAT days) will interest the people a lot.  It will give them an idea on how "Eat Bulaga" was conceived and how it beat a formidable opponent in "Student Canteen".  And plus, if ever Vic Sotto decides to bankroll an award-winning film with possible exposure around the globe via various film festivals, this is the best material to work on.

NANG MAG-CHAMPION ULI ANG GINEBRA


SYNOPSIS:  In 2004, Barangay Ginebra shocks the whole Philippine basketball world by winning back-to-back PBA titles, the All-Filipino Cup and Fiesta Conference.  Five individual die-hard Ginebra fans, coming from all walks of life, tell different stories about how the team's reignited fire in the championship run inspired them to improve as human beings.

POSSIBILITIES OF THE MOVIE BEING MADE:  Definitely, this is a sponsored movie with Ginebra being the protagonist of the story.  But definitely, this will be a movie worth watching, because Ginebra is the most popular PBA squad.
