"We wuz robbed!"
It was a clear robbery of sorts when 8-time world champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao lost to now WBO Welterweight Champion Timothy Bradley in a controversial split decision Saturday evening (Sunday morning in the Philippines) at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
Though Pacman dominated the fight throughout the 12 rounds, the judges saw it otherwise. Duane Ford and C.J. Ross scored it 115-113 for Bradley while Jerry Roth scored 115-113 for Pacquiao. The punch stats also showed Pacquiao dominating over Bradley.
The question right now is this: Was the fight fixed?
The answer? Probably.
There have been conspiracy theories that had been circulating on the web regarding the fight. But we must also give it to Bradley because he is merely a victim of circumstances. The guy has solid credentials, being undefeated and having an age advantage of 28 to Pacquiao's 33. But Bradley's reputation as a dirty player who resorts to head-butting opponents made us wary at most because what if Pacquiao becomes complacent and suddenly has his head bloodied?
Thankfully, when I watched the whole fight from start to finish Pacquiao was able to avoid being headbutted by Bradley. He even outclassed Bradley in majority of the rounds (according to most sports analysts that I've heard, Bradley dominated only rounds 1 and 12). Sad to say, it lead to the two judges scoring in favor of the undefeated one.
But don't despair guys. There will be a rematch this November. We have to pray harder for Divine Intervention to side with Manny this time and knock his opponent out. And better yet...
We have to pray that Bradley does not show off a giant ticket indicating a possible "Part 3" of the Pacquiao-Bradley fight in the next pre-fight press conference.
That will drive Filipinos wild with anger.
